About the event
Held each quarter, Transition Fidalgo meetings spark conversation, provide an opportunity to connect with community, and help bring changes and growth. For October's meeting, we will enjoy a delicious dessert potluck before settling in for a fascinating presentation on the Skagit Flood Study.
The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community received National Fish and Wildlife Foundation funding, in partnership with the Skagit Climate Science Consortium and Skagit River System Cooperative, to develop a model designed to enhance our understanding of flood risks in the Skagit River watershed. The goal of the Skagit Flood Study is to create the best technical information possible and to share it.
This new state-of-the-art hydraulic model, accessible in 2026, is both flexible and sophisticated, offering expanded range, new definition, higher resolution, and enhanced clarity on how the river may react to diverse flow conditions and flood scenarios.
