About the event
Heads up seed savers and seed-saver wannabe’s! Do you have bean pods turning brown and drying on the vine? Lettuce that’s sending fuzzy-topped stems bolting skyward?
“Seed Saving 101” can help you turn your plants’ last gasp into productive seeds for next year’s garden. Sponsored by Transition Fidalgo Seed Share, the hour-long class, will help demystify the many-faceted secrets that plants know—how to mature, store, and plant their seeds to perpetuate their life for future generations.
The class will delve into how to save seeds and why it's important. You'll learn to recognize the plant life cycle and know when its seed will produce a viable new plant. Also covered will be, types of pollination and pointers on some of the easiest seeds to save. While the emphasis will be on vegetables, there’ll also be examples of a few flower types.
